Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty has had an illustrious showbiz career spanning more than four decades and in various languages ââand to commemorate his contribution to Hindi cinema, recently journalist-filmmaker-biographer Ram Kamal Mukherjee unveiled the biography of the veteran, titled Mithun Chakraborty: The Dada of Bollywood.
The book contains known and unknown parts of Mithun’s life, accounts of people he lived or worked with, and much more. Ask Ram what he took away from the Disco King trip chronicle, and he says, âI’ve learned that nothing is grade B in your life. Never think that another person is getting something better than you. Whatever you get is probably the best of your life. It’s not that if Amitabh Bachchan and Rajesh Khanna get a great director to do a movie with them, and he gets a smaller director, that means it’s not the best.
Ram goes on to share that this fact is reflected in Mithun’s accomplishments. âMithun has received three national awards in his lifetime, and none of them was for a movie directed by a mainstream filmmaker. They were made by Mrinal Sen (Mrigayaa), Buddhadeb Dasgupta (Tahader Katha) and GV Iyer (Swami Vivekananda) So what you get is life, you should cherish that and Mithun has always enjoyed that, âhe insists.
