GMB reporter investigates mock covid “Why don’t Scots isolate !?” | United Kingdom | New

GMB Journalist Jonathan Swain has polled the Scottish team to find out why England football players Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell were forced to self-isolate after close contact with Scottish footballer Billy Gilmour who tested positive for covid. Mr Swain asked why the Scottish football team which would have been in the locker room and around Gilmour much more than the England team are not forced to isolate themselves and the bad example this decision sets for fans of football.

Jonathan Swain told GMB: “Behind the scenes, the England team are very cautious.

“They aren’t exactly following the science at the moment, but they are following the advice of Public Health England.

“At the end of the day, we were told that it was up to the FA itself to decide which players should isolate themselves.

“Although there is still a lot of confusion and questions as to why the Scottish team are not self-isolating!”

Later on the show, the Good Morning Britain crew also surveyed what was going on behind the scenes.

Dr Hilary said: “It is no surprise that large numbers of people are not following reasonable guidelines in the midst of a global pandemic to protect the population who have not yet been vaccinated and those who cannot. not be vaccinated. “

Adil Ray replied: “With the Scottish team what I don’t understand is that there is time on the pitch, fine, you could say it’s away.

“But there was a changing room, they were in changing rooms, using the same toilet, on the bus! Then at the hotel, I mean it doesn’t make sense!”

Mr Ray added: “I understand that football is a whole different ball game and we have to protect football, but that’s the message, isn’t it?

“Each of us really wants to go out and live our freedoms, but we have to play by the rules.

“Now when football fans, and there are a lot of them, see this happening and think… ‘if that’s a rule for them’… I’m just going to apply that rule to my scenario.

“If we’ve all done this we’ll all be in trouble. “

Scotland international Billy Gilmour tested positive for coronavirus following his country’s clash with England on Friday night.

He was pictured kissing his Chelsea teammates Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell.

All three have now been forced into self-isolation while the England team have returned negative tests.

England have advanced to the round of 16 of the Euro and will face the Czech Republic in their third and final group game on Tuesday night.
