“I am delighted that the President has assigned me the task of helping to reinforce the solid work already done at the DNC to ensure that Democrats increase their majority in the House and Senate and increase the number of Democratic governors in the state capitals across the country,” Richmond said in a statement to CNN Monday night.

The New York Times announced the news of his departure.

Several hours earlier at the press conference, publicist Jen Psaki – who is said to be in talks to join MSNBC after his departure – had “nothing to announce” about Richmond’s departure.

“It will involve a significant new role for – for Cedric Richmond – and something that the president is excited about and has asked him to do,” Psaki hinted.

Nussbaum was a veteran of the 2008 Obama-Biden campaign and previously wrote speeches for Vice President Al Gore and Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle.

He started in politics as a White House intern for Gore in 1995 – meaning he was also part of Monica Lewinsky’s White House intern class.

Nussbaum has co-authored books with Democratic consultant James Carville and former Senator Bob Graham.

Nussbaum said on Twitter Monday that he was leaving the White House at that time to kick off his book tour.

‘Book coming out May 10. So a book tour to start,’ he commented on Twitter asking why he was leaving administration.

His latest tome, Undelivered: The Never-Heard Speeches That Would Have Rewrite History, is out May 11.

The Brookings Institution charts Biden’s White House turnover, as the think tank has done for previous administrations.

In a report released earlier this month, Brookings researchers found that the turnover rate among the president’s so-called “A-team” is much lower than in the previous administration.

After a year in office, Biden’s turnover rate was 8%, while former President Donald Trump had lost 35% of his top staff.

Overall since taking office, Biden has lost just 12% of his A-team and no cabinet members.
